Casa dos Ventos and Orquídea Alimentos have formalized an agreement for the supply of renewable energy through the self-production by equivalence model. The partnership foresees an estimated volume of 3.4 average MW from the Umari Wind Farm, located in Rio Grande do Norte. With the agreement, the food sector company will now supply most of its electricity consumption through clean sources.
Predictability and decarbonization of operations
The migration of a large part of consumption to renewable sources represents a strategic advance for Orquídea Alimentos, an industry with over 70 years in the market and headquartered in Caxias do Sul (RS). Adopting the self-production model provides cost reduction for energy and ensures greater predictability of long-term operational expenses.
Throughout the partnership, a total reduction of approximately 20,550 tons of CO2 emissions is estimated, a volume equivalent to the preservation of about 570,000 trees. The structuring of the operation had the advice of the Goulart & Lamb law firm and the support of Ludfor Energia consultancy, which conducted the technical, regulatory, and contractual feasibility analyses to make the project viable.
The agreement with Orquídea Alimentos represents another step in Casa dos Ventos' strategy to expand the offer of renewable solutions for different segments of Brazilian industry. The food sector plays a fundamental role in the country's economy and has consistently advanced in adopting more sustainable practices.
